Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival 2012 Welcome to the show!!

How to get to and enjoy the show:

Lowestoft is Great Britains most Easterly town, and we can easily be reached via road, rail, air and sea!

By Air:

Norwich International Airport is approximately 27 miles away, and the area is well served by several local airfields

By Sea:

Lowestoft is an international seaport, has a history as a sea faring town, and has some first class marina facilities.(We are also right next to the Norfolk broads!)

By Rail:

On both the main lines from London and the Midlands via Ipswich or Norwich. National Express East Anglia supports us by putting on extra trains to enable you to visit the show; there will also be increased capacity on the Ipswich - Lowestoft line. Lowestoft station is only a five minute walk from the sea front and all the action!

By Road:

Easily accessible from the A47, A12, and A146 trunk roads. Set your Sat-Nav to NR33 and you cant miss it!

Air Festival Parking:

Parking will always be an issue at such a large and prestigious event. Most of the roads around the sea front will be closed or for emergency services only. Some of the streets around the town centre will also be closed or coned off to allow only emergency services access.

Official Park and Ride sites:

These will be very well signposted from all directions, and are situated to the north of the town, just off the A12: They are operated by our charitable partners on our behalf, and all receipts go to the Air Festival:

  • Coming from Norwich/Great Yarmouth direction on the A12, the north site is at Dip Farm, Corton

  • Park & Ride Shuttle Buses from Dip Farm will drop you off and pick you up at East Point Pavilion, just a short walk to the show
  •  
  • Shuttle buses will run approximately every 10 minutes. Cost will be 12.00 per car, which includes a free bus ride for driver and all passengers!

Parking at Pakefield Cliffs:

There will be limited parking availability at Pakefield Cliffs car park. Cost will be 8.00 per car

  • Park and Walk Sites:

  • Kirkley - South Lowestoft: Kirkly and Pakefield Football Club have agreed to become our official 2012 Park and Walk site again. With spaces for almost 1,000 cars, and with only a five minute slow walk to the seafront, is is ideally placed and very convenient!

    • The site is situated at Walmer Road Recreation ground, and will be signposted from the A14 and the A12 (south) You can set your sat-nav to NR33 7LE Park and Walk Charges are 8.00 per car.

       


    • ASDA Store, Riverside - Central Lowestoft. Not only a very convenient place to shop, but also to park! A five-minute walk takes you to the heart of the action! 10.00 per car, with all profits going towards the Air Festival.
       

      • (Drivers are strongly advised to use only these official Air Festival parking sites. All profits from these sites go towards the funding of the Air Festival, and support the event for the following year. All official sites are clearly marked. Please dont support any unofficial sites, as they are usually run for personal gain, and not for the benefit of the event or the charities that operate them on our behalf!)

Please note:

All Seafront car parks will be closed to the public

The Police will be operating a very strict tow-away system for cars or vehicles parked in any restricted areas.

Parking for the disabled:

Due to safety requirements for the safe passage of emergency services vehicles, there will be no disabled parking allowed on the sea front, or sea front car parks for the duration of the show. There are no facilities to view the show from your vehicle on the sea front.

Parking facilities for blue badge holders will be provided at Belvedere Road car park (see map) Usual rules apply, and local authority parking charges may be in force.

 

Public Transport:

Lowestoft Town Centre and Seafront is likely to be congested, so all visitors are recommended to use public transport wherever possible. Bus and train services will bring visitors to within a short walk of the South Beach, by either arriving at Lowestoft Bus Station, or Lowestoft Railway station:

 

National Express East Anglia is providing extra trains between Norwich and Lowestoft for the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th June and full details will be posted here one confirmed.



Other services between Norwich and Lowestoft, and vice versa, will operate as advertised in the scheduled timetable, with additional carriages provided on key services.

Train services on the East Suffolk line between Ipswich and Lowestoft will run as per the scheduled timetable. Some additional bus services will also operate to supplement the service.

Coaches:
Parking at Belvedere Road Car Park short walking distance (approx. 300metres) from seafront. Advance booking is essential as only confirmed bookings will secure one of the limited places.

The only other park for coaches is at Nicholas Everitt Park overflow parking (NR33 9JR) in Oulton Broad, approx. 2 miles from seafront. (Passengers can be dropped off and picked up near to seafront).
Parking fee for coaches is 7.20 for up to 3 hours; and 9.25 all day; at both the above parking areas. These car parks are operated by Waveney District Council and Pay & Display machines are on-site.
